HP TouchSmart Web .... Updates are slow
Make sure you have a good 10 minutes to spare before accepting the updates.
Do not power down during update. This model is the HP Photosmart Premium, print fax scan copy web. Sent from my iPhoneNew HP! Almost no plastic in packaging.
HP photosmart Premium with touch web. Model AiO-C308n Printer. More about the printer in next post, but great to see the free shopping bag instead of tons of plastic when unboxing. Printer came in a mesh bag and accessories came in a zipper pouch. We almost thought it was an open box unit, but saw the HP logo on the bags. Bags instead of trash is a great bonus for buying HP. It was a little easier to get out of the box too, but still had to straddle the outside of the box and pull on the handles. More info on green printers and packaging. Get More Video on your iPhone
Yes iPhone and iPod touch users have YouTube and Quicktime, but what if you video link doesn't work, or it's a standard not supported. Go to vTap and search for you clip. http://m.vtap.com. Beta It runs as an iPhone app or an iPhone/Mobile structured web page. It converts your video to QuickTime. It's in the backgounf so you can do long clips with ease and get you playlist setup. It converts video to iPhone format in several qualities. It has an audio only coversion to iPhone format that is very quick and would be great on a slow 3G connection.
M.vtap.com is a great service for all mobile phone users. Web developers can also use it to keep there iPhone and Mobile device users engaged by offerring them access to your video content without the hassle of doing your own conversion from Flash to QuickTime. Hope to see more of this. No Hulu yet, but would be nice. Of couse iPhone Flash and other adobe plugins for the iPhone would end the need for this type of service, but we can leave that up to Apple developers. (images shown are the Safari vTap version)

Avast 5 gets a new look, finally | The Download Blog - Download.com
Avast Antivirus has a new look.
And COLOR! Don't be afraid of the orange. But do check that you are installing an official version. Check the address bar or use download.com as directed by the Avast site. It's still free. Don't have register or give your email for 30 days. This helps when helping friends. Approximate 34mb download and fast install, don't need to reboot. (no more asking for a boot scan either. Try it. How does the Haiti Text Donation Work
It's a multi-step process. It's simply an extrac charge on you cell phone bill. 1. Text HAITI to 90999 (for Red Cross Donation) 2. Confirm with YES text 3. Get Thank You message. Last they ask if you want to signup for alerts (marketing messages) in a final text. Other text IDs and key words trigger donations to different organizations and different amounts. **** God bless the victims of the earthquake. *** Sent from my iPhone

How to remove Personal Security
It's a fake Spyware / Anti-Virus scan. It gets installed by the user via a fake "system message". It looks like a message from your computer. Once installed it does a fake scan and then asks you to buy a key to remove the threats. If want to check if the message is real, restart your computer, then see if you get the same message from your real antivirus system. To remove the program , try a system restore. (right click on My Computer and choose properties, the choose system restore. FYI, a regular uninstall doesn't work. If you are still infected after the systrem restore. Follow these instructions from myantispyware.com http://www.myantispyware.com/2009/12/01/how-to-remove-personal-security-uninstall-instructions/

Setup of Warner Brothers Digital Copy Manager
How to watch Digital copy that came with DVD. On Windows computer with Media Player only.
Tried this with the coupon that came with my DVD of "The Hangover" Screenshots of setup and installation.
Took about 15 minutes to get started the first time, first movie. Now I have the WB Movie manager ready to go. Can also rent directly from this manager. Or watch free previews.

Warner Brothers Digital Copy
Purchased a DVD from Best Buy and it came with code to get a digital copy. It took a little while to instal the WB digital copy manager but it downloaded fast and now I have an extra copy of the DVD. Picture of "The Hangover" on Sony Bravia KDL-32S2010 via HDMI from Sony Vaio VGN-NW240F on Win7. Don't accept the small picture that defaults. Go to HDMI resoulution settings and pick the best settings. 720p and and second adjustment to fit. WB manager is an Adobe Air plugin for Windows Media so no extra player needed. Windows only -- no Mac, but had a mobile player option (smaller file). The offer coupon expires, but the download copy doesn't seem to. www.wbdigitalcopy.com/hangover / www.wbdigitalcopy.com/support

MagicJack Info
Running MagicJack on XP Home Gateway Laptop Computer with 1.5ghz processor and 488mb ram.
Calls are clear and system is working ok. Setup was ok, but had to reboot after first call to get back up running. Make sure to accept the software update when installing they MagicJack for the first time. The USB device has a memory card in it that is partitioned, so to install the software choose the "lowest" letter. (example Drive E not F). So far the device is working well. Good Luck! http://www.magicjack.com/tos/ http://www.magicjack.com/faq/ http://my.magicjack.com/login.htmlUSB Internet Phone by TigerJet
