Usually the setup program will "Associate" file types with it's program, but if you uninstall a program or a program has a glitch your computer might not know which program to use to open the file type (example a .pdf file).
1. Hold Shift Key and Right Click the saved file to get the menu.
(if you are in a Browser like Internet Explorer you have to save the file first - or use a file that you already saved somewhere).

2. Choose "Open With" and ---> "Choose Program"
3. Single Click the program you want. (highlight it.)
4. Check the box "Always use this ... "
5. Click OK.
